The Ladies in Blue opened up Spring D2 action in San Jose with a come-from-behind win over the CV Wanderers, 2-1.

Despite the Azzuri controlling play for most of the first half, CV jumped on the board early with an angled near-post shot that trickled in to give them a 1-0 lead. The Azzuri, though, kept battling and Phoebe scored the first Azzuri goal of the spring season off a great centering pass from Soha late in the first half to knot the game at 1-1.

The second half started with the Azzuri continuing to mount pressure. After a fine effort to keep in the ball in the CV box by one of the "New Blue", Jenny Joyner, Soha was able to pick up the loose ball, dribble through some traffic and find the back of the net with the go-ahead goal. The Secretaries of Defense played tough, limiting CV to only 3 shots in the second half---and the opening day win was secured.
